Taking Down "The Tree"

I know it's early to start talking about UnDecorating, but just wanted to put the word out that per Reid Crotty, the tree needs to come down some time in the week between December 28 and January 4. That's a big time frame, but with holiday travel affecting it, we need to start working on a time when everyone can come help get the decorations down.

Make a comment for this post if there are days that do or do not work for you.

Song of the Week: Jars of Clay - Work

Here is the video and the words to the song discussed in Sunday School.

Jars of Clay: Work

Just in case, I will leave my things packed
So I can run away

I cannot trust these voices I don't have a line of prospects that can give some kind of peace
There is nothing left to cling to that can bring me sweet releaseI have no fear of drowning
It's the breathing that's taking all this work

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"

Empty spaces with shadows hit by streetlights
Warnings signs and weight of tired conversations

In the absence of a shoulder, in the abscess of a thief
On the brink of this destruction, on the eve of bittersweet
Now all the demons look like prophets and I'm living out
Every word they speak, every word they speak

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"

Do you know what I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"?
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"
What I mean when I say, "I don't want to be alone"

Alone, alone, I don't want to be alone
I have no fear of drowning
It's the breathing that's taking all this work

Old Crow Medicine Show - Heard of 'em?

Here is the video for the song we talked about in class today.

It's the Old Crow Medicine Show singing "I Hear Them All"

Lyrics:

I hear the crying of the hungry in the deserts where they're wandering.
Hear them crying out for Heaven's own benevolence upon them.
Hear destructive power prevailing, I hear fools falsely hailing.
To the crooked wits of tyrants when they call.

I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all

I hear the sounds of tearing pages and the roar of burning paper.
All the crimes in acquisition turn to air and ash and vapor.
And the rattle of the shackle far beyond emancipators.
And the loneliest who gather in their stalls.

I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all

So, while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power
I can hear the flowers a-growing in the rubble of the towers
I hear leaders quit their lyin'
I hear babies quit their cryin'

I hear soldiers quit their dyin', one and all

I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all

I hear the tender words from Zion I hear Noah's waterfall
Hear the gentle lamb of Judah sleeping at the feet of Buddha
And the prophets from Elijah to the old Paiute Wovoka
Take their places at the table when they're called

I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
